Buongiorno da Ilary!
Ora, cosa c’entrano caffè e simili?
Enjoy your breakfast supporting cancer!
Good morning from Ilary!
Breakfast, coffee break, the tea of 5, cakes of..every hour (!), are more pleasant in company, don’t you think? If then they become also opportunities to support a good cause and help those less fortunate, then are really perfect!
So, why don’t you attend the annual Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning?
Let’s go step by step: what is Macmillian? Macmillan Cancer Support is a non-profit organization that provides a broad spectrum support to those who suffer from cancer in the UK, funding nurses and other specialist health and building centers of cancer care. In addition, specialists are available to listen, advise and share information; volunteers help families in the practical management of the disease, like support at home or lift to hospital; the team suggests how to deal with the economic aspect of the disease and how to obtain benefits and grants.
Now, what about coffee and similar?
On September 26th, there will be the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning , an annual event started in 1990 when a local fundraising committee decided to hold a coffee morning where people came along to meet and mingle – as they might ordinarily do – but donate the cost of their coffee to Macmillan in the process. The first National World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was in 1991, when 2,600 people registered to hold coffee mornings across the country. Since then it has raised over £113 million in total for Macmillan Cancer Support.
What can you do?
1. Subscribe to the event on the website http://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx and ask for the participation kit
2. Send many many invitations to your friends, colleagues, acquaintances (even those less sympathetic, it’s for a good reason) with the date and the venue where you’re keeping your coffee meeting
3. Arm of patience, creativity and culinary skills, and prepare cakes, pies, muffins, cookies … and everything else you like to accompany your, and that of your guests, hot coffee!
4. Maybe you could call that friend you wanted to spend time with and ask for some help, spending a lovely afternoon together like masterchefs
5. When your guests will come, enjoy the delicacies prepared, talks about how many Italians live in London and, in the end, ask to your guests to “pay for coffee and cake” to Macmillian!
Simple no ?!
There is no need to organize your coffee morning on September 26th, every date is welcome! Also, you can hold a coffee morning overseas.
Let me go now, I’m going to make the pastiera for English guests!
Enjoy your breakfast supporting cancer!
Ciao! 🙂
